KEY SPECIAL HAZARD FIRE SUPPRESSION REQUIREMENTS
As per Part 6 Section 6.6 of the BC Fire Code and Vancouver Fire Bylaw;
- This section stats that all work of special fire suppression systems is to be done in conjunction with the referenced applicable standard.
- This means that the testing, inspection and maintenance of a Fire Suppression system shall be done in conjunction with the appropriate NFPA Standard.

Q: Who’s responsible for maintaining Annual Fire Inspections?
A: The BC Fire Code and Vancouver Fire bylaw clearly identify that the owner or owners authorized agent are responsible for carrying out the provisions of the code and ensuring that fire protection installations shall be maintained in operating condition at all times.
Q: Why do we have to complete an Annual Fire Inspections?
A: Division B – Part 6 of the BC Fire Code outlines all the requirements and further referenced documents to complete and maintain all fire protection equipment.

Q: How much will a system cost?
A: Every set-up is completely different bases on the hazard, size and agent being used. Ultimately it will require an engineered design before being installed. If you are able to send Community Fire Prevention mechanical drawings of your proposed system it will increase the accuracy of all estimates.
